David Stanley Beers Obituary

David Stanley Beers (August 2, 1942 – November 23, 2023) of Riverview, NB.

If you are reading this, then my time here has passed. I passed on November 23, 2023, with my family by

my side. I am survived by my wife and partner in life of 35 years, Bonnie Beers (Craig), my son Jeff Beers

(Kimberley), stepchildren, Lisa Hebert (Jeremy), Craig Wortman (Carrie), Jamie Wortman (Sue), and my

six grandchildren, Reid and Annabel Beers , Naomi and Dylan Hebert, and Jay and Alex Wortman: sister

Roberta Barry. In addition to my parents, I was predeceased by my first wife of 23 years and the mother

of my children, Annabel (Lewis) and our beautiful daughter, Terri Hayes, sister Gloria Leblanc, niece

Jennifer Barry and brother-in-law Robert Barry.

I leave this world after 81 years and with a heart full of love and memories, and my wish is nothing more

for those that I leave behind that they celebrate the life I led and save their tears. Now if you ask

anyone, I am meticulous and a get’er done kind of guy, so I decided to write this short story of my life

myself.

I was born in Moncton in 1942 and grew up in the north end of Moncton. I decided my own graduation

from school at the end of grade 9 and went to work. I had a very fulfilling career as a commercial

traveler until 1975 when I joined my father in Stan F. Beers and Sons’ Contracting. The commercial sales

industry moved Annabel and I’s family to Newfoundland and Nova Scotia for periods of time before

settling in Upper Coverdale to raise our children. We designed the home and put countless hours into

building it just the way I imagined it, a spiral staircase, and walls full of windows over the lake.

I was active in the community, being a member of the Riverview Lions Club, the volunteer fire

department, and the militia. I worked hard and played even harder. I enjoyed snowmobiling, boating,

cars, and travel throughout the years. I have been an active member of the Atlantic Nationals and the

Moncton Speed and Custom Club. I was a member of the Pointe Du Chene Yacht Club for over 30 years

and having spent the last twenty years living in the Pointe, I became involved in the Pointe Du Chene wharf Board of Directors, holding many positions, and retired as the vice CEO a couple of years ago.

After 15 years in the Pointe, Bonnie and I decided to redesign our 100-year-old cottage into the home of

our dreams. Our beach house is where I spent my retired years and enjoyed the view from our many

balconies and making memories with everyone who passed by.

I sold my business and “retired” in 1997, mind you I have continued to work on many projects over the

past 26 years, right up until this fall. Between projects, Bonnie and I spent our time traveling and making

memories with many dear friends. We visited every corner of North America in our motorhome,

travelled to Portugal, had many boating excursions, and spent many winters in Florida. I have fond

memories of many adventures and shenanigans that we experienced together, with our children,

grandchildren and so many dear friends. Some highlights are when we chartered a yacht in the British

Virgin Islands, our trip to California where we flew in a glider over the Napa Valley, and when we flew

with a bush pilot delivering mail into the Arctic Circle. I thought I had no interest in a cruise ship, not

being able to captain it myself, but did discover that pleasure and travelled the Panama Canal and other

Caribbean destinations with friends over the past 10 years.

I leave this world with no regrets, I would have liked more time as do we all, but I am at peace with the

life and family I have had the privilege of sharing with everyone who I met along the path.
