Obituary of Patrick "Pat" Cragg Manning
It is with sadness we announce the passing of Patrick Cragg Manning, which occurred on Saturday, March 28, 2015 in Shediac Bridge with his family at his side. Pat was born in Saint John, NB and grew up in Riverview. He spent many happy boyhood summers at the cottage and sailing on Shediac Bay. Pat and Colleen married in 1978 and moved west looking for adventure. They found that and much more in Rossland, BC, where they made a home and loving friendships over 10 years. In 1988 they moved to Fredericton to be closer to family and he started working with Controls and Equipment. They moved to Riverview in 1999 and in 2003 Pat took over as President of Controls and Equipment until his retirement in 2012. Pat was a character. His sense of humour and down to earth manner earned him many many lifelong friendships. He was an avid skier and tennis player, loved any activity on the water, and was up for anything that involved friends. He was a great partier and gatherings of family and friends were high on his list. As an instrument tech in the oil fields and as President of C&E Pat was the "go-to-man"; he was logical and enjoyed sorting out problems and leading his team. Pat's friendships grew from work and play, from east to west. He particularly enjoyed the Friday night drinks and cigars with his Elks brothers. When Pat walked into a room, it lit up and the party got louder and happier. Pat made his own rules, he had the courage to live the life he wanted with no regrets. He loved his family with his whole heart and he will be sadly missed by wife Colleen Manning; sons Sean (Megan) and Colin (Lauren); sister Penny MacKenzie (Jim); nephew Eric and niece Samantha. Pat was predeceased by his parents Eric N. and Eileen M. (Cragg) Manning and also by his brother Michael.
