Obituary of Kenneth C. Estabrooks

One of New Brunswick's oldest residence passed away in his 107th year, Kenneth C. Estabrooks formerly of Brentwood Ave., Moncton, NB passed away at the Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at the age of 106. Born in Sackville, NB on February 28, 1915 a son of the late Claude and Margaret (McGowan) Estabrooks and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Ken worked for many years at Enamel Heating (Fawcett's) in Sackville until he moved to Moncton to take over as manager of Nesbitt Thompson Investment Brokers. In his 80's he was ice skating, in his 90's and 100's he honed his skills with the violin, taught himself Morse code and conversational French. His passion for lifelong learning and zest for life are tenets to his character. He enjoyed his retirement very much especially his woodlot and hunting camps in Albert County. It was there that many a cord of wood was cut with the help of his "Boys". Ken enjoyed oil painting, playing his fiddles and enjoyed his family at the cottage in Cap Bimet, especially the lobster dinners. Survived by his sons, Brian (Pat) Estabrooks of London, ON and Colin Estabrooks (Marlene) of Pointe du Chene, NB; daughter- in- law, Dianne Estabrooks (the late Eric) of Peterbourgh, ON; seven grandchildren, Amy, Andrew and Alicia, Scott and Jennifer, Heather and Stacey; ten great- grandchildren; nephew, Dale Estabrooks of Sackville, NB. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Geraldine A. (MacKelvie); son, Eric Estabrooks and a brother, Leaman Estabrooks (late Grace); nephew, Glenn Estabrooks. As per Ken's wishes cremation has taken place and there will not be any visitation or funeral service held. Interment will take place in the Sackville Cemetery.
