Obituary of C. George Smith

George Smith passed away at the Veterans Health Care Centre, on Monday evening, August 30, 2021 at the age of 96 years. Born in St. John's NL he was the son of the late Henry Roy and Bertha Geraldine (Tessier) Smith. George retired from the Canadian National Railway as a carman after 40 years service. He was a Veteran of WWII and served overseas as a member of the liberation and restoration of Holland. He was a member of the Riverview Veterans Association and a life time member and deacon of the Lower Coverdale Baptist Church. He is survived by his daughter, Lois Andrews and her husband Allan of Canoe Cove, PE; daughter-in-law, Lisette Smith of Riverview, NB; son, Douglas Smith and his wife Claudette of Saint-Marie-de-Kent, NB; grandchildren, Scott, Mark, Buffy, Joshua, Ginger, Whitney, Chantal, Cynthia, Claudia, Daniel, and Jonathan; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Thomas, Sophia, Owen, Tyler, Evelyn, Sadie, Landon, Ava, Noa, Django, Fergus, Sullivan, Aspen, Axyl, Indie, Ash. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his beloved wife Barbara in 2016; son Jeffrey Smith in 1996; sisters Peggy and Blakie; brothers Douglas, Charlie and Jim. Visitation will be held at Tuttle Brothers & Riverview Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. The Riverview Veterans will be holding a prayer service at the funeral home on Wednesday evening at 6:30pm. The funeral service will be held at Tuttle Brothers and Riverview Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 3:00pm with Rev. Jodie LeBouthillier officiating. Interment will be in Wilmot Cemetery. Donations in George's memory made to the Lower Coverdale Baptist Church would be appreciated by the family.
