1929 - 2007
Bob MacLeod, of Moncton, NB passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Friday, December 21, 2007 at the age of 78 years.
Born in Sydney Mines, NS on July 2, 1929 he was the son of the late John and Rose (Turner) MacLeod. He was a member of St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church; a fouth degree knight; a member of The Moncton Art Society and a member of the CNR Pensioneers.
Bob started working with the Canadian National Railways as a Telegrapher Operator in Sydney Mines when he was 16 years old, then went onto Edmonton as a Dispatcher, and retired in 1986 as Chief Dispatcher Atlantic Division.
Left with fond memories are his sons Thayne MacLeod (Susan) of Hartland, NB, and Ian MacLeod at home; grandchildren Scott and Sean MacLeod of Hartland; sisters Theresa Mackie of Guelph ON, and Beverly Mitchelitis of Sydney Mines; brothers Jackie MacLeod of Ingonish, NS, Father Greg MacLeod of Sydney Mines, NS, and Billy MacLeod of Vancouver BC; also by several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his beloved wife Helen M. (LaRade) in October 2006, also by brothers Melvin, Michael and James.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, Moncton on Thursday, January 3, 2008 at 11:00 am celebrated by Father Yvon Arsenault. There will be a reception to follow.
Services will be held in the Spring and will be announced by Dooley's Funeral Home, North Sydney.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery in the spring.
In Bob's memory, donations made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or to The Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
