Obituary of Helen Beatrice Jarvis

Helen B. Jarvis, widow of the late Dr. Carl Jarvis D.V.M., of Riverview passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 15, 2008 at the Moncton Hospital. Born in Collina, Kings Co. NB, March 21, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Beatrice (Coy) Stewart. Helen was a graduate of Sussex High School and the Moncton Hospital School of Nursing. She was a private nurse in Belleville and Guelph, On. and a Labour and Delivery nurse at the former Hotel Dieu Hospital in Chatham, NB and the Moncton Hospital, retiring in 1982. She was a life member of the U.C.W. of St. Paul's United Church in Riverview, the Moncton Hospital Nurse's Alumnae and the Moncton Hospital Nurse's Health Care Auxiliary. She had been a volunteer at the Moncton Hospital, Red Cross, Canadian Blood Services and the Veteran's Outreach Program at the Canadian Legion Branch # 6 Moncton. She was a Past Matron of Prince Charles Chapter #27 O.E.S. Chatham, NB; and an affiliated member of Frank H. Tingley Chapter # 5 O.E.S. Moncton. She was an avid Bridge player. She is survived by daughters Beverley Campbell (Barry) of Lower Newcastle, NB and Lynne Mutch (Trueman) of Napanee, On; son Stewart (Karen) of Courtice, On; five grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Helen was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years Dr. Carl Jarvis in January 2000, sisters Alice Robinson and Edna Powell and by brothers Earle, Gordon and Charles. The family will be receiving relatives and friends at the Riverview Funeral Home 214 Pine Glen Rd. Riverview on Saturday, May 17, 2008 from 7:00 to 9:00pm and at St. Paul's United Church on Sunday, May 18, 2008 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm The funeral service will be held at St. Paul's United Church 404 Cleveland Ave. Riverview on Sunday, May 18, 2008 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Steve Berube officiating. An Eastern Star Service will be held at the Funeral Home Saturday evening at 6:45pm. Interment will be in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens, Moncton, NB As expressions of sympathy, donations made to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation, the Shriners Hospital or any charity of the donor's choice.
