Obituary of Phyllis Belva Zwicker
Phyllis B. Zwicker, of Moncton, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Thursday, January 08, 2009 at the age of 97 years. Born in Grand Harbour, Grand Mannan, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Agnes (Cheney) McLaughlin.
After completing high school she attended Chipman Memorial School of Nursing in St. Stephen, NB. upon graduating in the 1930's she returned to Grand Manan, she then married Sumner H. Zwicker. Phyllis was a active member of the Seal Cove United Baptist Church and was involved in many community efforts while on Grand Manan. In 1954 Phyllis and Sumner with their family moved to Centreville, NB. She worked in the hospitals in both places. In 1971 she moved to Antigua, WI, where her husband was employed in the education system through CIDA. Since returning home in 1975 she continued to live in Moncton, Phyllis has developed many friends over the years and had been a regular supporter of Brentwood Baptist Church. Phyllis was noted for her keen sense of humor and her ability to bring on a smile by her repertoire of tasteful jokes.
She is survived by two daughters Margaret A. (Levin) Frenette of Fredericton; Paula (Ken) Cameron of Moncton; son Dr. Dan (Penny) Zwicker of Lunenburg, NS. 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Phyllis was predeceased by her husband Sumner Zwicker; daughter Patricia (Dr. Don)Pendleton, great grand daughter Mallory Langner, five sisters Norma Anderson, Thelma Ellingwood, Edith Allaby, Jane Ellingwood, and Lorene Sawyer; brothers Lawrence and Meredith McLaughlin.
There is no vistation at the request of the family. The funeral service will be held at Allison Church Dickson Blvd Campus on Sunday, January 11, 2009 at 2:30 pm with Pastor Carolyn Steeves and Pastor Brent Hudson officiating.
Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery Grand Manan later in the spring.
