Obituary of Joan Elizabeth Lord
Joan Elizabeth Lord of Riverview passed away peacefully surrounded by her girls, whom she loved so dearly on Thursday, October 1, 2009 at the age of 62 years.
Retiring in 2000, Joan taught school for 32 years. She taught at Netherwood School for Girls in Rothesay, Andover High School, Perth, Andover, Albert Street School, Fredericton, (JMA) Salisbury High, Salisbury Middle and Salisbury Elementary Schools. Children were important to Joan. During her retirement she ran from her home an After School Child Care for children grades K-6.
Joan was a past Sunday School teacher and Superintendent of Sunday School at St. Paul's United Church. She was a member of the Scribner Unit UCW and the Nimble Thimbles Quilting group. For many years, Joan canvassed for the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Diabetes Association and the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
Joan will be sadly missed by her family that meant so much to her: her mother Muriel A. Clark of Riverview; her daughters and sons-in-law Sarah Lord (Jason) Turner of Riverview, Jessica (Rodney) Foote of Marystown, Nfld., Rebekah (Andrew) Malcolm of Shediac and Hannah Lord of Riverview, step-daughter Rhianon Lord and her mother Shelby Cook; grandchildren Rachel and Daniel Foote; sisters Janet (Wayne) Parker, Penny (Terry Connors) Johnson, Lynn Clark (Mike) McCann; sister-in-law Muriel Clark; grand-nephews Sam and Simon Springer; grand-nieces Emma and Olivia Jones, nieces and nephews Heather Jones, Chris (Rhonda Fox) Jones, Stephen (Melissa) Jones, Mark (Gail) Clark, Margo (Sheldon) Springer and Tim McCann; aunts and uncles, Lilian Clark, Aileen Milbury, Stanley (Joyce) Clark, Harold (Bev) Clark and extended family Harry (Brigette Lajoie) Lord and members of the RollingDam families.
Joan was predeceased by her father Sam E. Clark and brothers Alan, Jimmy and Johnny Clark.
Joan's Family will be receiving relatives and friends at the Riverview Funeral Home 214 Pine Glen Rd. Riverview on Sunday, October 4, 2009 from the hours of 6:00pm to 9:00pm.
The Funeral Service will be held at St. Paul's United Church, Cleveland Ave. Riverview on Monday, October 5, 2009 at 2:00pm with Rev. Shawn Redden, Steve Berube and Hugh Farquhar officiating.
Interment will be in Woodstock Houlton Road Cemetery, Woodstock, NB.
Donations in Joan's memory made to St. Paul's United Church Sunday School and Library would be greatly appreciated by the family.
