Obituary of Isobel Crowe

Isobel (Ella) Crowe, age 85 years of Spencer’s Nursing Home and formerly of Cleveland Avenue, Riverview, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2009 surrounded by her family. Born on May 14, 1924 in Dundee Scotland, she was the daughter of the late William Low and Elizabeth Clark. Ella and her family came to Canada from Scotland in 1953. She was a long-time retired employee of Eaton’s, having worked for many years in the children’s department. She was an active member of St. Paul’s United Church and the United Church Women in Riverview. Ella enjoyed traveling with her husband, Magnus, making frequent trips to visit her daughter Yvonne, and her family in British Columbia. They also spent numerous winters in Florida and made several trips back home to Scotland to visit family. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Ella will be sadly missed by her daughters Glynis Drisdelle (Paul) of Riverview and Fiona Doiron (Terry) of Upper Coverdale; son in law Rick Johnson of British Coumbia; grandchildren, Allison, Jamie, Julie, Laura and Jessica; great grandchildren, Ashley and Shelby Kate; great great grandson, Rylan; sister Wilma of Scotland; and brothers Bill of Scotland and Alistair of Australia. She was predeceased by her husband, Magnus McKay Crowe in 1998; daughter Yvonne Johnson in 2005; sister Betty and brother George. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A memorial service will be at St. Paul’s United Church in Riverview on Friday, November 13, 2009 at 2:00p.m with Rev. Steve Berube officiating. Special Thank You to the staff on Applegrove for all their love and care shown during her stay. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ella made to the “Alzheimer’s Unit” of Spencer’s Nursing Home would be greatly appreciated by the family.
