Obituary of William "Bill" J. Coates

Coates, William "Bill" J. 1944 -2010, of Riverview, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at the age of 66. Born in Coates Mills, NB on January 2, 1944, he was the son of the late Wallace Sr. and June (Rietzel) Coates. Bill had worked for Prudential Life and Sun Life Insurance Companies for many years. He was also employed as a Moncton City Bus Driver for over twenty years. A man of strong christian faith, he was very involved with the youth of Parkside Baptist Church. He later attended Highfield Baptist Church in Moncton and Bethel Baptist Church in Pine Glen. Bill loved the outdoors, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and canoeing. Bill will be best remembered for his love of children, his sense of humor and his love of practical jokes. A friend to all that knew him he will be sadly missed by his three sisters Brenda Berry (Dan) of Moncton, Evelyn West of Moncton and Gloria Amberson (John) of Massachusetts; two sisters-in-law Marion Coates and Anita Coates both of Dundas, NB; three brothers Robert Coates (Marlene) and Fred Coates all of Ontario and Clarence Coates (the late Joyce) of Brookfield, NS; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by two brothers George Coates and Junior (Wallace) Coates. Resting at Tuttle Brothers Funeral Home, 171 Lutz St. Moncton with visitation on Friday, May 28, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. The Funeral Service will be held at Tuttle Brothers Memorial Chapel, Moncton on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Tony Blair officiating. Interment will be in Coates Mills Cemetery in Coates Mills, NB. Donations in Bill's memory made to The Bible League or to the Gideon's would be appreciated by his family.
