Obituary of Nowell Hubert Bateman

Nowell Hubert (Bert) Bateman 1930 - 2010 Nowell Hubert (Bert) Bateman, of Scoudouc Rd., passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Friday, July 02, 2010 after a brief illness. Born July 2, 1930, He was the son of the late Hubert Bateman and Jessie Hope, and husband of Helen Murray. Predeceased by his son Stanley Robert in 1999; sisters Hilda, Beulah and Lillian; brothers Lloyd and Stanley. Beloved father of Murray (Carol), Carolyn (Chris) and Jeffrey (Erika). Loving Grandfather to Thomas, Colleen and Samuel Bateman (Petawawa) Kelly, Isabelle and Gregory Vanbuskirk (Moncton) Marika and Willa Bateman (Dorval). Bert worked as an electrician in the CN Shops for 35 years. A lifelong member of St. Martin's in the Woods Anglican Church, he sang in the choir, acted as a lay reader and served on a variety of committees. He was a former volunteer with St. John Ambulance, a member of Eastern Star Zetland Chapter # 26, Masonic Lodge # 24, a 32nd degree member of Scottish Rite. He was a member of Silver Sands Seniors, delivered Meals to Seniors and worked with the Shediac Cape School Breakfast Program. Resting at St. Martin's in the Woods Anglican Church on Monday July 5th, 2010 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm with an Eastern Star and Masonic service starting at 6:30 pm. The funeral service will be held at St. Martin's in the Woods Anglican Church on Tuesday, July 06, 2010 at 2pm with Father Richard McConnell officiating. Interment will be in St. Martins in the Woods cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Martin's Memorial Fund, Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
