Obituary of Myrtle Beatrice Secord
Myrtle Beatrice Secord, age 96 years of Moncton, passed away at the Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home on Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010.
Born in Harvey Bank, NB on August 5th, 1914; she was the daughter of the late Crandall and Helena (Smith) Long. Myrtle was a member of the St. James Anglican Church and a former member of the A.C.W, the Pythian Sisters, and the Friendship Circle. She was a woman of deep and sustaining faith who was a loving parent and grandparent. Thru all life’s struggles she found ways to bring encouragement and humour to both her family and to her many friends. Always ready to start something new, at age 57 she graduated at the top of her class and began a career as an LPN.
She is survived by her daughters Helena Evans (Rev. David) of The Glades, N.B, Myrna Wilson (Dr. Robert) of New Minas, N.S, and son Donald Secord (Jane) of Halifax, N.S; sister Wilma Stuart of Saint John, N.B, grandchildren John (Annette), James (Wanda), Susanne (Glenn), Shonda (Pierre), Matthew (Heather), Jonathan (Crissy), and Dr. Rachel (John); great grandchildren Samantha, Ariel, Victoria, William, Jacob, Laurel, Erika, Lauren, Lowell, and Siobhan; also by one niece Kathy and nephews Osborne, Brian, and Wendell.
Predeceased by her brothers Murray and Osborne.
The family wishes to express its thanks to the kind people of Peoples Park Tower, McNair Manor, and Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home (especially the nursing and support staff of Briarwood Unit).
Visitation will be held at Tuttle Bros. Funeral Home on Saturday, November 27th, 2010 from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm. The funeral service will be held from St. James Anglican Church (101 Fairview Dr, Moncton at the corner of St. George Blvd.) on Sunday, November 28th, 2010 at 3:00pm with Rev. Rufus Onyewuchi officiating. Prior to the service there will be visitation at the church from 1:45-2:45pm. Interment will take place in the Bayview Cemetery, Harvey Bank, NB in the spring. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Myrtle be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
