Obituary of John Albert Duncan

John A. Duncan, 86, of Riverview, NB; passed away at The Moncton Hospital, on Monday, April 4, 2011. Born in Moncton, NB, on July 27, 1924; he was the son of the late LeBarron and Marion Duncan. John retired as a Supervisor Terminal Manager in St. John's, NL. John was a lifelong member of the Wesley Memorial United Church in Moncton. He was a member of Acacia Lodge # 49 F&AM, Luxor Shrine Valley of Moncton, Scottish Rite, Rose Croix, Order of Eastern Star Frank H. Tingley Chapter # 5, the CN Pensioners Association and he served with the Royal Canadian Navy Reserves from 1943 to 1946. He will be sadly missed by his daughter Beverly Duncan of Riverview; son Sam Duncan (Pauline) of Riverview, NB; five grandchildren Stephen of Dartmouth, NS., Phillip (Heather) of Calgary, Drew of Riverview, Chelsea of Moncton and Mark (Sharon) of Riverview; two great grandchildren Jamie Lee and Jazmyne; his son-in-law Ken O'Blenis of Dartmouth, NS. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Vera Duncan in 2002 and his daughter Leona O'Blenis in 2002. Resting at the Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Rd. Riverview with visitation on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. The Funeral Service will be held at Wesley Memorial United Church, St. George St. Moncton on Thursday April 7, 2011 at 11:00 am with Rev. Dr. P. Griffin-Allwood officiating. A Masonic service conducted by Acacia Lodge #49 will be held Wednesday evening, April 6, 2011 at 6:30pm at the Riverview Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by his family.
