Obituary of Edythe Beatrice Gahan
Edythe B. Gahan 94, of Salisbury, N.B and formerly of Moncton, NB; passed peacefully at LeBlanc Special Care Home in Salisbury, NB; on Tuesday, April 19, 2011. Born in Petitcodiac, NB., on September 3, 1916; she was the daughter of the late Charles and Beatrice (Smith) Lutes.
She was a member of St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church. Edythe retired as a mail order clerk T. Eaton Company. She is survived by two step-daughters Betty Sawler (Clayton) of Port Hawkesbury, NS and Shirley Tarves of Hamilton, ON; a step daughter-in-law Ruby Gahan of Ontario; by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; local nieces and nephews, Beatrice LeBlanc (Bill), Rita Hennessey (James) and Miriam Halbert (Bill); Stewart Lutes (Glendine) and George Lutes (Marilyn); as well as nieces and nephews from Ontario, Western Canada and the United States and by her special grand nieces and grand nephews. Edythe was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents, Edythe was predeceased by her husband Patrick Gahan in 1972; step-son Jack Gahan of Ontario; sisters Ada, Bernice, Eva, Millie and Helen; brothers Roy, George and Walter Lutes. Resting at Tuttle Brothers Funeral Home, 171 Lutz St. Moncton, with visitation on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 7:00 to 9:00pm.
The Funeral Service will be held at St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church, Botsford St. Moncton, on Thursday April 21, 2011 at 10:00 am with Father Allison Carroll officiating.
Donations in memory of Edythe made to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation or to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery in Dieppe, NB at a later date.
