Obituary of William Horace "Bill" Roberts

William Horace "Bill" Roberts, 93 years, of Riverview passed away with family by his side at his residence, on Wednesday, July 3, 2013. Born in Saint John, NB on October 26, 1919 he was the son of the late Edward and Iva (Perkins) Roberts and stepfather Robert "Scotty" Anderson. Bill retired in 1978 after 38 years working with the Canadian National Railways as Chief Train Dispatcher. Following his retirement he enjoyed many years as a Real Estate Agent with Century 21 Realty. For 20 years he enjoyed the winter months in Florida with his wife Mary Anne. He was a member of the Order of The Eastern Star #19, a member of the Masonic Fraternity since 1958 serving as Master of Tweedie Lodge. Past President of the Moncton Curling Association; Past Secretary for the NB Boy Scouts of Canada; He was an avid sportsmen and faithful supporter of the Moncton Wildcats Hockey Team and a proud member of the Pointe Du Chene Yacht Club and was known as the Captain of the "Saga". A loving father, grandfather and great grandfather he will be sadly missed by his daughter Elaine A. (Bill) Ward of Lower Coverdale; sons Greg (Sharon) Roberts of Edmonton AB. and Allan Roberts of Riverview; special grandchildren Heather Dawn (Travis) Russell and Neil William (Courtney) Ward of Lower Coverdale; Connie and Andrew of Edmonton, AB.; special great grand-children Natalie Anne Frances and Charlotte Liane Ward and Faith Mary Russell. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife of 61 years Mary Anne (Sherwood) Roberts in 2007 and by a infant son Brian Anderson Roberts in 1951. The funeral service will be held at the Riverview Funeral Home Chapel, 214 Pine Glen Rd. on Friday, July 5, 2013 at 1:00pm with Rev. Carol Mullin officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
