Obituary of Yves Bertin LeBlanc
(Joseph) Yves Bertin LeBlanc, 95, of Riverview, NB, passed away on July 13th, 2016.
Born in Shediac, NB, June 14, 1921 to the late Ulric LeBlanc and Marceline (Boudreau) LeBlanc.
He was married in 1950 to an Irish girl from Saint John, Carmel Reardon, to whom he was married for 53 years until her passing 13 years ago. He is survived by their six children; Mark (Kathi), Chris (Valerie), Wayne, David (Collette), Janice Rickard (Terry) and Lise-Marie Langille (Todd): 11 grandchildren; Brett, Colin, Kelly, Dara, Kristen, Jenaya, Kurt, Justine, Michael, Melissa, and Breanne, and 7 great grandchildren; Kai, Ayla, Brianna, Kyler, Liam, Myles and Ethan.
He is also survived by three sisters Yvette LeBlanc of Petit Rocher, Benoite (Paul) Gautreau of Shediac Bridge and Jennine Robichaud of Cap Pele. He was predeceased by a sister, Raymonde (Romeo) Boudreau and three infant siblings Fernande, Fernand and Bertin.
He worked for over 35 years with the federal government as a Radar and Electronics Technician, beginning his career during the Second World War when radar was the newest of emerging technologies . Upon retirement from the federal government, he worked for a short while as a wireless radio operator aboard several ocean going vessels.
He attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church for over 50 years.
He was a man of traditional values and simple ambitions, to work hard, attend church every Sunday, save, and provide for and take care of his family with special emphasis on all his children receiving post secondary educations. He was rewarded with a total of 12 University degrees having been earned among his 6 children.
He was a "stand up guy" with the strongest of moral convictions who could always be counted on if you ever needed his help. He was never a braggart and he enjoyed a good laugh on himself like no one else. His favourite times were shared at the cottage with his family where over the years many a lobster were boiled.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the nurses and therapists of the Rehabilitation Unit, 4400, Moncton Hospital for the care given and especially for the genuine compassion shown to Yves during his hospitalization.
There will be no public visitation. Funeral Services to be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church , 11 Fatima Drive, Riverview NB on Friday, July 15th, 2016 at 2:00 o’clock. A gathering of friends and family shall follow the service. Interment will be held at Our Lady of Calvary Roman Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Friends of Moncton Hospital Rehabilitation. Unit 4400 or a charity of the donors choosing would be appreciated.
