Obituary of Thomas "Bud" Carroll
Thomas Carroll - 89, of Moncton, NB; passed away peacefully at Veterans Health Care Centre, on Sunday, September 4th, 2016, surrounded by his family. Survived by his wife of 42 years, Camilla Carroll (nee St. Pierre) and their son, Ryan (Kate), of Toronto; his daughter, Debi (Darrell), of Moncton; one sister, Winnie Bourgeois (Del), of Pointe-Claire, QC; and five grandchildren, Grace and Liam Carroll, Shallyn Duke, Faith and Mackenzie Carroll.
Predeceased by his first wife Sheila Carroll (nee McSweeney) and their sons, David and Bobby; two sisters, Margaret Murphy and Eileen Donovan; three brothers, Jack, Frank and Randolph.
Before retiring, Bud worked at CN as a Motorman for 38 years. He was a very accomplished truck rodeo driver, winning numerous awards, including Driver of the Year for Canada in 1976. He also worked as an inspector for Underwriters Laboratories Canada (ULC) for many years, ensuring quality and safety of industrial products. As a young man, Bud enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy, where he was a Seaman in the North Atlantic during WWII. He was awarded the Queen’s Jubilee Medal in 2012. He was a parishioner of St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church and a member of The Knights of Columbus; he also belonged to Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #6 - Moncton, the CNR War Veterans Club, and the Air Force Vets. He was President of the Riverview Gentleman's Hockey League for over 30 years.
Visitation will be held at Tuttle Brothers & Riverview Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 6th from 3:00-6:00PM and Wednesday September 7th from 1:00pm until departure for Funeral.
A Legion Service will be held at 5:30 pm at the Funeral Home, on Tuesday, September 6th, 2016.
The Funeral mass will be held at St. Bernard's R.C. Church, 43 Botsford St, Moncton, NB on Wednesday, September 7th, 2016 at 2:00 pm with Father Allison Carroll officiating.
A private family interment will be in St. Pierre Parish Cemetery, Cocagne, NB on Thursday, September 8th, 2016.
Donations in Bud's memory can be made to The Alzheimer’s Society or The Kidney Foundation of Canada.
