Obituary of Muriel Albertine Richards

Muriel Albertine Richards of Moncton and formerly of Saint John, NB, passed away in Moncton on Friday, June 29, 2018. She was the widow of the late Joseph E. Richards and daughter of James and Jane (Culligan) Byron of Moncton. Muriel was a graduate of Moncton High School and was an employee of the Dept. of Transport (Air Services Division) in Moncton prior to her marriage. In Saint John she was Supervisor of Stenographic Services for Canada Post in the District Office. After her return to Moncton, she attended St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church. She was a member of the Catholic Women's League of Canada; member of the Westmorland-Albert-Kent Chapter of the Irish Canadian Cultural Association, Federal Superannuates National Association, also a member of Canada Post Heritage Association. She was an avid bridge player, she played with St. Augustine's Marathon Bridge. Muriel is survived by her sister in law Mary Byron (the late Ralph) of Halifax, sister in law Mary Richards of Saint John; as well several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sister Geraldine Cody and her four brothers Ralph, Cyril, Arthur and Emmett R. Byron. Resting at Tuttle Brothers & Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Rd. Riverview with visitation on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 7:00 to 9:00pm. The Funeral mass will be held at St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church, Botsford St. Moncton on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at 11:00 am with Father Allison Carroll officiating. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe, NB Donations in Muriel's memory made to the St. Bernard's Capital Campaign 2018 or to the Friends of Moncton Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
