Obituary of Bernard McKinnon
Bernie passed away peacefully December 17, 2006 following a courageous battle with cancer, two weeks shy of his 78th birthday. He faced this difficult challenge with strength and determination which were inspirational to all. He was surrounded by love throughout his illness and during his final days.
He was predeceased by his adoring wife Gene (Fleming) in 1991.
Bernie was one of ten children born to the late Jack and Beatrice (Coulter) McKinnon. Predeceased by five brothers Karl, Frances, Gerald, Donald and James. He is survived by one brother Albro of Moncton and three sisters Marion, Gertrude and Muriel all of Dartmouth. He will always be remembered by his five children Janet Pritchard (Ralph) of Shediac, Daniel (Heather) of London ON, Michael also of London ON, Pamela Thompson (Terry) of Shediac, Heather Woolley (Paul) of St. Thomas, ON. Bernie will be remembered fondly by his six grand children Danny, Dylan, Lana, William, Matthew, and Jacob and his adorable great grand children Trisden and Isabelle.
Bernie enjoyed his career of 40 years with The Canadian National Railway retiring in 1989. He was a master telegrapher and respected train dispatcher throughout the Maritime Provinces and Ontario.
The family extends a Heartfelt "Thank You" to the Doctors and Nurses of The Moncton City Hospital and George L. Dumont Hospital. The sincere care and compassion will forever be remembered.
At Bernie's request, cremation has taken place. The family will be receiving visitors at The Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Rd. Riverview, NB (506) 857-9544 on Tuesday Decmeber 19, 2006 from 7:00pm-8:00pm.
A private burial will take place in Brookside Cemetery Corp. Bedford, NS.
