Obituary of Evan W. Thomas
Evan W. Thomas formerly of Seattle, Washington and Shediac Cape, passed away at Forest Dale Nursing Home on Friday, December 28, 2018 at the age of 84. Born in Clarksville, Washington he was the son of the late Russell and Gladine (Moore) Thomas.
Evan's life had many interests and talents, he was in the US Army receiving an honorable discharge in 1961, he was a customs agent, a Seattle Policeman until his retirement and held a commercial pilot’s license, he obtained his Canadian Citizenship in November of 1996, a member of the Masonic Lodge # 24 (F&AM) Shediac, a member of the OES Zetland Chapter # 26, Shediac and a member of the Shriners.
Survived by step-children: Cathy McGinn (Dick) of Riverview, Chris Steeves (Martin) of Hillsborough, Roy Oakes (Dee) of Edmonton and John Oakes (Nan) of Shediac; as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his 1st wife, Annie Hazel (Bateman), his 2nd wife, Dolly (Oakes); a sister and a brother.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Tuttle Brothers & Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Rd., Riverview, NB (506) 857-9544. A Masonic and Eastern Star service will be held prior to a memorial service on Monday, January 7, 2019 at 1:00pm with Rev: Janice MacLean officiating
Donations in Evan's memory may be made to the Luxor Shrine Transportation Fund 14 McLaughlin Cresent, Saint John, NB. E2J 2K2 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
Interment will be in St. Martin's in the Woods Cemetery in the spring.
