Obituary of Leonard Roy Soucoup

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Leonard Soucoup of Purdy Avenue, Moncton, who passed away at the Moncton Hospital on March 1, 2020. Husband of the late Mabel (Beers) Soucoup, Leonard was the son of the late William and Margaret (Doige) Soucoup. A lifelong Monctonian, he graduated from Moncton High school and was a self-employed businessman throughout his career. Leonard was an avid outdoorsman who loved snowshoeing and snowmobiling in winter and gardening and four-wheeling in summer, even into his 94th year. He had a life-long love of horses and other animals and treasured his time at his camp in Catamount, tending to his property, gardens and apple trees. His knowledge of local and family history was unparalleled, as was the love and respect he garnered from the members of his large and extended family. He is survived by sisters Bernice (Bauder) of Rusagonis, Elsie (McArdle) of Moncton, his stepchildren Margaret, Iris and Elmer (and their respective families) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister Florence (Wilson), brothers Gordon, James and Oscar and his special niece Janie (Soucoup). Heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Briarlea home, where Leonard was a resident since October of 2019, for their kindness and care. Leonard will be missed but never forgotten by his devoted family and friends.
