Obituary of Marie Margaret Ford

Marie Margaret Ford of Riverview and formerly of Moncton, NB passed away at Monarch Hall on Monday, September 28, 2020 at the age of 103. Born in Chatham, NB she was a daughter of the late Wallace and Margaret (Jimmo) Haley. Marie worked outside the home for many years, first as a medical librarian at the Moncton Hospital, then later on as an accounts officer at T.E. Eaton and Company in Moncton. It is in this latter occupation that she would regale us with stories of dealing with the accounts of folks from Newfoundland, which was her territory. She always said how honest and forthright they were, but still had humorous anecdotes about dealing with some of the people who lived in the out ports. Marie enjoyed curling very much and was an active member of the Moncton Business Ladies Curling league. She was also an avid cross-country skier and delighted in this outdoor activity. She loved playing bridge as well and did so frequently. To say that our mother was beloved would be an understatement. Not only was she beloved by her family, but by everyone who ever came in contact with her over the many years of her life. Her smile could light up a room and her disposition and positive attitude were infectious. The first words out of anyone's mouth when any family member encountered friends, acquaintances, old girlfriends, boyfriends, business associates or anyone else that had ever met her would inevitably be, "how's your mother". She was cherished by all. Survived by her son, Paul Gaudet of Moncton; two daughters, Peggy Gaudet (Oscar) of Moncton, Patricia Juneau Smith Falls, ON; special niece, Patty Cosman; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Marion Ford and her children, Stephen (Jennifer), Sandra, Susan (Craig) their families, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her first husband, Rudy Gaudet; her second husband, Lloyd Ford; son, Carl Gaudet; three sisters, Doris, Patricia and Kathleen Haley; one brother, Karl Haley. Marie was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In honor of Marie there will not be any visitation held, a private family service will take place at a later date. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Roman Catholic Cemetery, Dieppe, NB.
