Obituary of Wayne Allison Snider

Wayne Allison Snider of Riverview, NB passed away at the Moncton Hospital on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at the age of 84. Born in Hillsborough NB he was a son of the late Herbert and LaVangie (Rogers) Snider. Dad was extremely proud of his family and would talk about them to anyone who would listen and those who wouldn’t. He was also a career military man of twenty-nine years, proud to have served and to wear his medals. He was particularly proud of wearing his blue beret which he earned while serving a peacekeeping tour in the Middle East. His time in the military was followed by working at Canada Post and then they started DWL, a transportation service where he enjoyed transporting children and care takers back and forth to the Head Start Program. He was a longstanding member of the Riverview Lions Club, recipient of the Melvin Jones award and the Presidents Certificate. He sat on the board for the Lions Sick Children’s Fund. He was a member of the Riverview Veterans and Armed Forces Association. We recently discovered that Dad was known as the expert bread slicer at the Lion’s breakfasts! Automobiles were a big part of his life. Many stories started with which car he was driving at the time. He particularly enjoyed touring in his Ford Mustang and volunteering at AMP Motorsport Park. Survived by his children, Steven Snider (Patty), Kim McIver (David) of Dartmouth, NS, Troy (Paula) of Lower Sackville, NS; eight grandchildren, Patrick (Amy), Shamus, Laurie-Anne (Tim) and Liam Snider, Max (Kathleen) and Spencer McIver, Lauren and Katie Snider; great grandchildren Sophie and Jessa; brothers, Bernard (late Glendine) Snider, Vaughn (late Lois) all of Hillsborough; sister, Thelma Steeves (Don) of Saint John, NB. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Lornette "Lori" Snider in 2015 and his infant daughter Shelley.
