Obituary of Stephen Andrew Trites

The death of Stephen Andrew Trites, 73, of Riverview, NB occurred May 12 at his home after a brief struggle with cancer. Steve was the son of the late Evan and Jean Trites of Saint John, NB. He is survived by his wife Nancy and his brother Michael, also of Riverview, and by several cousins, nieces and nephew, including Paul Trites (Loretta) and the Kenyan Kids, Georgia, Nadia and Leo of Nairobi, and by his brother-in-law Bruce Carr (Sue) of Newcastle Centre, NB., and his mother in law Ruth Carr of Fredericton, NB. A former investment advisor for RBC Dominion Securities, Moncton branch, Steve enjoyed serving his many clients and working with his colleagues, with many of whom he developed lasting friendships. A former branch manager, he was also named a Vice- President of the company. In his younger days, Steve set off with his friends Brian, Richard and others for adventures in Morocco and Europe. Steve was an avid skier throughout his life and skied in both Europe and North America. He especially treasured his trips to Mont Tremblant to ski with his buddy Farrell. He also enjoyed golf and played many courses from Pebble Beach to Ireland. His most recent favorite activities included kayaking at his cottage on Grand Lake, NB. He loved to entertain friends and family with his gourmet meals, wine and sharp wit. When at home, he regularly worked out at the gym, and was proud of the level of fitness he achieved. An avid reader, he had an extensive personal library and was particularly fond of history and politics. He kept abreast of current events and there was never any doubt of a hot issue he supported. He loved music, from classical to country. In his last days, Steve received dozens of calls and messages of support, including expressions of appreciation for the roles he played in the lives of others; all were cherished by him. Due to current Covid restrictions, there will be no funeral at this time. A celebration of his life will be held at a future date when more of his friends and family are able to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
