Obituary of James "Jamie" Edward Small

James "Jamie" Edward Small of Moncton, NB, passed away of Cystic Fibrosis related complications on Wednesday, October 06, 2021 at the age of 46. Born in Newcastle, NB, on June 1st, 1975, he was the son of Stan and Pat (Dexter) Small. Jamie was called by many different names but his favourite was "Dad". He looked forward to every visit and outing with Parker. Jamie valued his titles of teacher and coach. His teaching career developed, in him, a passion for helping at-risk youth and anyone in need of a listening ear. Basketball has always been part of his life. As a kid, he thrived on playing and watching the game. As an adult, he became a skilled coach and mentor to many, often keeping communication with his former players. Jamie’s happy place was the family community on the Miramichi. In spring and summer, he loved spending time there for the solitude and companionship he found. When speaking of Jamie, it would be impossible not to mention his love of wrestling and video games. Over the years, Jamie cultivated and maintained a few strong friendships which kept him going through difficult times in life and illness. Our family is grateful for these relationships. Survived by his parents, Stan and Pat Small; dearly loved son, Parker Small; sister, Stacey McQueen (Chris); adored nieces, Jamie and Shannon all of Moncton; special cousin, Brenda McFarlane; paternal grandmother, Louise Small of Amherst, NS, as well as Parker’s mother, Laura Small.
