Obituary of Elizabeth "Page" Cormier
Elizabeth "Page" Cormier, 79 of Moncton passed away on December 4, 2021. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of Hibbert Lawrence and Maude (Goodwin) Lawrence.
She will be missed by her children; Susan (Andy) Belliveau of Moncton, Robert (Darren) Cormier of Moncton, Greg Cormier of Toronto and Mark (Amélie) Cormier of Dieppe; as well as her grandchildren; Gabrielle Cormier and Jonathan Cormier of Dieppe.
A home economist and teacher, Page taught in many area schools, most notability at Lewisville Middle School. Many area residents made their first date squares with her. She was a great baker and there were always goodies in the house. They were so delicious that she often had to hide them because her family might eat them all at once. An avid seamstress; she made dolls, home furnishings and family clothes. Unfortunately, there are photos of matching mother, daughter and doll outfits she made in the 1970s. She was a talented crafter; her large collection of paint, glass, glue, fabric and thread resulted in beautiful tole painted, stained glass, and stitched creations.
She was a wonderful gardener and looked forward to digging in the dirt. She visited every garden centre and often more than once. This explains why she was still planting in August. She was also an animal lover. Her cats quickly became her furry children and members of the family. She was a great friend: enjoying bridge parties, neighbourhood coffee breaks and "craft days" with other retired teachers.
She absolutely loved her cottage in "God’s Country" at Indian Point. Surrounded by long time friends and family, the warm beach, the bright sun, good meals and cocktail hours, she was in her true happy place.
She was an amazing mother and the centre of the family. She was strong, stoic, loving and caring. She was deeply loved and will be truly missed.
The family would like to thank the staff at Pavillon Richard, Faubourg du Mascaret for the care they provided her.
At her request, there will be no visitation or funeral. In memory of Page, a contribution to the Greater Moncton SPCA (monctonspca.ca) would be appreciated.
