Obituary of Kenneth Reagh Smith

Kenneth Reagh Smith of Moncton, NB passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at the age of 91. Born in Kildare Capes, PEI he was a son of the late Reagh and Lois (Moore) Smith. Survived by his wife, Mary Emeline (Gaudet) Smith; daughters, Jacinta LeBlanc (Jeff Leblanc), Crystal Smith (Mario Hinsche) both of Moncton, Judy (Danny) Bridges of Alberta, Ann Smith (Brian Alcorn) of Summerside, PE and Mary (Brian) Delaney of St. Edwards, PE; sons, Reg (Sue), Clayton (Valerie) both of St. Catherines, ON, John of Summerside, PE, Chris of Dartmouth, NS, Danny and Floyd both of Moncton; brother, Chester (Anna) of O'Leary, PE; 50 grandchildren, 82 great grandchildren,10 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his sister, Elsie and his children, Joyce and Gerard. Ken grew up in Kildare Capes and his love for the sea found him on the seas as a lobster fisherman for many years. He also worked in the potato warehouse for Frankie Shea and often in the winter months he would be founded in the woods cutting lumber. He also spent time working in the tobacco fields in Ontario. After moving to Moncton in the early 70’s he worked at Scotia Textile Wool Mill until his retirement. He loved the outdoors and he would often hit the roads on his motorcycle or go for long walks. He kept busy until his late 80s being the "family taxi driver" as he loved helping family and enjoy hitting the roads. He always had time for a game of auction 45 when asked. Visitation will be held at Tuttle Brothers Riverview Funeral Home 214 Pine Glen Rd, Riverview, NB on Thursday, December 16, 2021 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM and at West Prince Funeral Home, 522 Thompson Rd, Saint Louis, PEI on Saturday, December 18th, 2021 from 10:30-12:30. A Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Palmer Rd, Saint Louis, PE on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 1:00 PM. Proof of double vaccination, government ID and face masks are mandatory upon entering the Funeral Home. Interment will be at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Cemetery following the funeral Mass. Donations in Kenneth's memory made to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
