Obituary of Clarene Doris White

The passing of Clarene White occurred peacefully in hospital on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at the age of 87. Born in Moncton to Gaius and Eva Avard, she was also predeceased by her loving husband and lifelong best friend Bill and sister Jane Eaton. After graduating from Mount Allison University with honours in 1955, Mom went to Vancouver for her dietetic internship. After returning home she met a handsome man at a family wedding who she would later marry. They settled in Moncton to raise a family, poor Mom tried in vain to have at least one daughter but finally gave up after three sons. They were married for 60 years before Dad died in 2019. Mom worked as a Registered Dietician at the Moncton Hospital for 30 years. No doubt that training helped her become a terrific yet nutritious cook, helping to keep our waistlines (somewhat) in check. She had a wonderful sense of style and fashion, and while this was largely lost on her male-dominated family, we were immensely proud of her modelling career with the Ruth Barnes Agency. Trained well by her parents, Mom lived her life with class, kindness and dignity, and family always came first. She remained an active Mount A alumna and was a passionate supporter of many worthy causes. Clarene is survived by her three sons: Bill Jr. (Joanne), Tim (Janice), and John (Linda); grandchildren Erin, Bradley (Karen), Kela and Matai; sisters Marilyn MacDiarmid (late Benson) and family, Anne Spinney (Craig) and family; and brother-in-law Robert Eaton and family. Our heartfelt thanks go to the wonderful staff at the Moncton Hospital, her long-time family physician Dr. Brian Davidson, and in particular her caregiver Angela, as without her Mom would not have been able to remain at home this past year, which she did until her final three days. Visitation will be at Tuttle Brothers Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Rd, Riverview, NB on Thursday, March 17 from 6 to 8 pm.
