Obituary of Charlotte Rita Coholan

Charlotte Rita Coholan June 14, 1925 - April 29, 2022 Our Mom, Charlotte Rita Coholan (née Mollins) of Moncton, NB, passed away peacefully at the Moncton Residence on Friday, April 29, 2022 at the age of 96. Born in Moncton she was the daughter of the late Albert Mollins and Nellie (née McEachern). Mom was proud of having graduated from Moncton High School (grade 11) in 1943 from the Commercial course, which led to a job at the CN Freight office. She married her husband Joseph (Bo) Coholan in September 1949 and raised five children in their house at 69 Wellington Avenue where she lived for 70 years. She and Bo had many parties and crib games with neighbors, friends and family. One of her passions was playing bridge ‘‘with the ladies’’ and organizing teas at St. Bernard's Church as part of the CWL (Catholic Women’s League of Canada). She was a loyal member of the Liberal Party of Canada, often canceling out Dad’s NDP vote. She was a strong personality with a great wit and sense of humor who loved sharing her time visiting others, to have a laugh, and a good HOT HOT HOT cup of tea. To those who knew and loved her, she leaves us with an indelible sense of zest for life and a real ‘‘Go for it’’ attitude. She famously would say ‘‘I can sleep when I’m dead!’’ Rest In Peace Mom. She is survived by her children, Brenda Janzen of Moncton, Mary Coholan of Halifax, Jeannie Coholan of Bedford, and Patrick Coholan of Moncton; sister, Beulah Taylor-Richard of Moncton; son-in-law Charles Lachance of Thetford Mines, and all of her beautiful grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Joseph "Bo" Coholan in 2019; her daughter, Kathryn Coholan-Lachance in 2015; daughter-in-law, Murielle Coholan (née Bourque) in 2018; and two sisters, Anna Whittaker and Billie Back. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church, 43 Botsford St., Moncton on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at 2:00pm. Come celebrate with us after, in the church basement, and grab some lunch. Interment will be at the Shediac Road Cemetery at a later date.
