Obituary of Marjorie Jean Colpitts

Marjorie Jean Colpitts (nee Buchanan) of Moncton, NB passed away peacefully at McNair Manor on Saturday, June 11, 2022. Born August 15, 1928 in Fredericton, PEI to the late George and Cassie (Arthur) Buchanan. Marjorie was predeceased by her loving husband in 1981, and sister, Catherine MacRae (late Ian). After teaching for a year in PEI, Marjorie moved to Moncton where she worked at Eatons’ and married the late George Colpitts in 1953. They raised their three children in Moncton. Marjorie is survived by her children: George Colpitts (Anabella Vasconcellos), of Moncton; Terry Colpitts, of Ottawa, ; and Wendy Boby (Tim) of Moncton. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Adam Boby (Mia Hochar), Laura Boby, Raphael Cerrelli-Colpitts, Rebecca Cerrelli-Colpitts, two great-grandchildren Rosie Cerrelli and Zoe Boby; a special niece, Cheryl MacKay of Riverview and several nieces and nephews. Marjorie was an employee of T. Eaton Co. for more than a decade and made many lifelong friends there. When Eaton’s closed their doors in 1976 she took an accounting course at NB Tech and then worked for Co-op Atlantic for 15 years. She was a member of Highfield St. Baptist Church. Her family remembers their Mom with much love for many reasons: her great sense of humor, her smile, her infectious giggle, her exceptional cooking skills (which we all benefited from:) ),her love of books, gardening, bowling and doing crossword puzzles long distance on the phone with her son George. She enjoyed travelling with Wendy to places such as Boston, Montreal & Western Canada. Terry fondly remembers Mom getting up early on weekend mornings to prepare breakfast and lunches for his and Dad’s fishing trips. She was a wonderful, warm, and fun-loving Grandmother. Her grandchildren cherished the sleepovers at her place, the kid friendly meals she served them at lunchtime through their early school years, and all the occasions they spent with her. She is dearly loved and will be greatly missed. The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at McNair Manor (44 Beechwood Ave.) for their care and compassion.
