Obituary of Gary Stewart McMackin

Gary Stewart McMackin (75 years), of Turtle Creek, New Brunswick passed away suddenly on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at the Moncton Hospital.

Born in Fawcett Hill, New Brunswick he was the son of the late William and Nellie (O’Blenis) McMackin. Gary was a respected and skilled Heavy Equipment Operator for most of his life and recently retired from Phillip Brothers Ltd. Gary was a musician and poet at heart and enjoyed writing songs and poetry, singing and playing guitar. Gary could fix just about anything and was known for his creative solutions and creations. He always had a story or a laugh to share.

Gary will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 43 years, Jocelyn (Tingley) McMackin; son, Faron “Grodie” McMackin (Stacey Coates) of Havelock; daughters, Rhonda Phillips (Ed Korth) of Cambridge Narrows;  Leah Taylor (Glendon) of Burton; Vanessa McMackin (Paul Stephens) of Stratford ON and Jodi McMackin (Luc Gould) of Riverview; grandchildren, Taylor, Zane, Riley, Brynn, Sadie, Alice, Lucy and Isabelle; four great grandchildren; brother, Chester “Chet” McMackin of Hampton; as well as by many extended family members and friends.

Besides his parents, William and Nellie, Gary was predeceased by his sisters Marjorie Mann and Carolyn Mason; and his brothers, Fleming McMackin, Burton McMackin, and Emory McMackin.

Visitation will be held at Fergusons Riverview Funeral Centre, on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 from 2:00pm until 3:00pm.

A funeral service will be held in the Fergusons Riverview Community Chapel, on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at 3:00pm.
