Obituary of Lena Roy

Lena Roy, of Riverview, NB, passed away at the Moncton Hospital on July 15, 2024, at the age of 90.

Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on July 19, 1933; she was the daughter of the late William Shevery and Tina Ripley.

Lena dedicated her life to helping others as a registered nurse, graduating from the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow, NS, in 1956 and spending most of her working years at the Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) at the Moncton Hospital and the Salvation Army Lakeview Manor in Riverview, NB. She attended the Bethel Presbyterian Church in Riverview, NB.

She is survived and will be lovingly missed by her loving children Brenda (Daniel) Kuehl of Sussex, NB, Robert Roy, Nancy Roy and Cindy Roy, all of Riverview, NB; seven grandchildren, Shawna (Matt) Stevenson, Ryan (Shana) Kuehl, Kortnee Chaffey, Corey Chaffey, Rob D. Roy (Tim), Daniel (Allison) Roy and Makenzie Roy; six great-grandchildren, Hank and Peter Stevenson, Knox and Kollyns Kuehl, Reid and Mason Roy; sisters Maria Metcalfe of Dartmouth, NS, and Margaret Milner of Dartmouth, NS; brother Michael (Brenda) Shevery of Pembroke, NS; and also by several nieces and nephews. 

Predeceased by her husband Robert F. (Rob) Roy (1984), father William Shevery (1961), mother Tina Ripley (2007), daughter Helen (Shevon) Chaffey (2009) and sister Teresa Myra (2017).

By personal request there will be no visitation at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held from Fergusons Riverview Community Chapel, 214 Pine Glen Road, Riverview (506-857-9544) on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 11:30 am. Refreshments to follow. Interment will take place at Fairhaven Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lena made to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by her family.
