Obituary of Kenda Dawn Richard
On November 23, 2022 Kenda, loving wife and step mother passed away following a courageous and lengthy battle at the age of 65. Kenda is predeceased by her father, Kenneth Cole and her mother Muriel Cole (Beatty). She is survived by her husband Norman, step daughters Sarah Richard, Julie Richard, Natalie (Ryan) Davison, grandsons Jack and George Davison, brother Rick (Terry) Cole and their children Valancy, Hayden and Bryce, brother Ted (Paula) Cole and their son Skylar, several other nieces, nephews, best friend Lise Culligan and a host of additional family and friends.
Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Kenda and her family moved to Katherine Avenue in Moncton where Kenda was raised, attending Beaverbrook Elementary School, Birchmount Junior High and Harrison Trimble High School. Kenda loved life and lived it with zest, humor and a passion for growth. These characteristics contributed to numerous personal and business achievements, including her business Van Kleefe Jewelers as a finalist in the Business of the Year Category for the City of Abbottsford BC in 1995, losing only to a new start up passenger airline, WestJet.
Kenda’s positivity and drive proved to be a great source of support for her family and many friends. She would light up a room by simply entering it, always drawing others in. Her curiosity and openness were an inspiration to all. Her greatest love was that of her immediate family and several close friends.
Kenda will be missed by so many. A private celebration of life limited to family and close friends will take place at a later date.
The surviving family and friends of Kenda wish to thank the paramedics, emergency room, acute care, gynecology, oncology and palliative care staff of the Moncton City Hospital as well as the extramural team that supported her upon returning home. In particular, the family would like to thank Dr. Hemsworth, Dr. Mansfield and Dr. Prive and their teams for the excellent care provided. They would also like to thank Dr. Beaulieu, Ellie and all of the nursing staff of The Briarlea, Gorge Road for the excellent care provided to Kenda in recent years.
