Obituary of Carmelle Rosalie Mahoney

It is with love and deep sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Carmelle Mahoney at Monarch Hall, Riverview, on September 25, 2023, at the age of 87.  Born in Atholville, NB on December 2, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Ferdinand and Elizabeth (Gallant) Arseneault.

Carmelle enjoyed music and loved to sing along.  She was known for her fantastic cooking and baking, especially her homemade bread and meatpies.  Above all, she was a loving wife, mother, and Nanny.

Carmelle was predeceased by her loving husband of nearly 65 years, Patrick Mahoney, and her eldest son Michael.

She will live on in the hearts of her daughters Susan McLagan (David), Doreen Lachance, Sheila Robichaud (Claude); sons Shawn Mahoney (Terry) and Bevan Mahoney (Donna); grandchildren Colleen, Melissa, Tim, Kelsie, Christopher, Lisa, Ryan, Kathleen, Matthew, Jonathan, Sarah, David, Jason, and Luke; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her sisters Aline Roy (Jean-Louis), Lorraine Leger (late Marcel), Rina Arseneault (Danny Allen), Linda MacDonald (Kenneth), and brother Donald Arseneault (Solange).  She was predeceased by her sisters Yvette, Rose, and Denise, brothers Gérard, Jean-Marie, Léo-Paul, Roger, and Louis.

The family recognizes and greatly appreciates the staff at Canterbury Hall and Monarch Hall for their kindness, care and attention to Carmelle over the years.  A special thank you to Dr. Lise Babin for her care and support.

Visitation will be held at Fergusons Riverview Funeral Centre on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 from 2pm – 4pm and 6pm – 8pm.  The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church, Moncton on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at 11:00am.  Interment will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Tide Head, NB at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Carmelle’s memory made to the Alzheimer’s Society (https://alzheimer.ca/nb/en/take-action/donate)or to the Canadian Cancer Society (https://cancer.ca/en/) would be appreciated by the family.
