Obituary of Kathleen E. Smith

Kathleen E. Smith, 99, of Lower Coverdale, NB, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Sunday September 24, 2023, at The Moncton Hospital. She was born in Rosevale, NB; and she was the daughter of the late Franklin and Clara (Berry) Steeves.

Kathleen was formerly employed with School District #2 at Lower Coverdale School. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, knitting, pickling, and canning preserves, and had great enjoyment working in her flower garden.

A loving mother, grammy and friend she will be sadly missed by her two daughters Linda Stannard (the late James) of Hillsborough and Tanya Steeves (Wayne) of Lower Coverdale; three sons, David (the late Janie) of Stoney Creek, Paul  of Lower Coverdale, and Lloyd  of Niagara Rd; also by Linda partner of (the late Michael James Smith) of the Niagara Rd; thirteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; as well as nieces and nephews.

Kathleen was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Besides her parents she is predeceased by her husband James R. Smith in 2015; her son Michael James Smith in 2022, also by her two sisters, Marion Gogan and Alvilda Miller and by her brother Arthur Steeves.

A visitation will be held at Fergusons Riverview Funeral Centre, 214 Pine Glen Rd. Riverview on Wednesday September 27, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

Honouring Kathleen's wishes a Graveside Service will be held at Wilmot Memorial Cemetery, in Lower Coverdale, on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at 1:30 pm with Rev. Ken Rains officiating.

Following the Graveside service family and friends are invited back to Fergusons Riverview Funeral Centre, 214 Pine Glen Rd., for tea, coffee, and a light reception from 2:00pm to 3:30pm.

Donations in Kathleen's memory made to the Lower Coverdale Baptist Church Road to River Fund, or to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
