Obituary of Barbara Ruth Hoyt
Barbara Hoyt, 97, of Riverview, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at Monarch Hall, Riverview.
Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Ruby (Tessier) Smith. Her father was the NB Minister of Agriculture for several years, and Barbara grew up on the family farm in Lower Coverdale and lived in the Riverview area most of her life. She attended St. Paul’s United Church and was a member of the U.C.W., and was also a past member of The Moncton Hospital Auxiliary. She was active in the Riverview Craft Guild, and for several years ran Crafts a la Carte along with her good friend, Sadie Bouck, making and selling crafts at various local events and conferences. She enjoyed researching the genealogy of her family, and was an avid reader of the business press and likely missed her calling to be a stockbroker.
Barbara will be missed by her daughter Lynn Hoyt.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by several cousins who were like siblings to her, as well as long-time good friends Barb Gingles, Nan Archibald and Sadie Bouck.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fergusons Riverview Funeral Centre, 214 Pine Glen Rd., Riverview (506-857-9455). Interment will take place at Wesleyan Union Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to ElderDog (elderdog.ca), which supports older adults in the care of their canine companions.
