Obituary of Trevor W. Gillis
Trevor Gillis of Riverview, NB and formerly of Inverness, Cape Breton. It is with broken hearts that we say "so Long" to a courageous man, a dear husband, only son, brother and friend.
Trevor passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family and friends on March 20th at the Moncton Hospital.
Born in Inverness, he was the loving husband and best friend of Tannis, son of Jane (Ray) MacLean of Inverness and Jackie Cameron of Mabou. Brother to Tammy, Melissa, Barbara and Stephanie; son-in-law of Paul and Lucille Martell of St. Peter's. He also leaves behind several brothers and sisters-in-law, numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and always dear to his heart nephews Jack, Liam, Ryan, Luke, Jacob and nieces Jessica and Breanna.
Throughout his fight with kidney disease, Trevor embraced life with such vigor and positivity those around him were left to wonder from where he drew his strength and courage.
Trevor would want his "second family", the Nephrology and Dialysis Departments at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont to be thanked and loved for their kindness and compassion during the past seven years.
Because of the limitations Trevor's illness put on his life, he often asked himself what his purpose here was but without any doubt anyone whose life he touched knows he was here to teach us a life lesson of courage, love, perseverance, dignity and all encompassing Joi de Vie.
Family and friends will celebrate with memories of his life at the Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Rd. Riverview, NB on Saturday, March 22nd. from 2:00 to 8:00pm and Sunday, March 23rd. from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.
Services will be held at the Riverview Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, March 23rd. at 6:00pm with Pastor Scott Mealy officiating.
At Trevor's request, "no flowers". Donations to the Kidney Foundation or to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
Interment will be in Inverness, NS at a later date.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Riverview Funeral Home, (506) 857-9544.
