Obituary of Sarah Burgess
Sarah Burgess formerly of 21 Crystal Dr. Riverview. Born in Emerson, Kent County, NB, Canada on December 16, 1904, she was the daughter of Reid Lynds and Isabelle Beers Lynds and the loving wife of the late Guy Burgess.
Sarah was the matriarch of a five generation family. She is Survived by her daughter-in-law, Mary Irving of Medford, MA and eight Grandsons Gerald Irving, Jr. and his wife Jean of Wilmington, MA Patrick Irving and his wife Jane of Castine, Maine Mark Irving and his wife Robin of Cordova, Alaska Tom Irving and his wife Mary of Deering, New Hampshire Timothy Irving and his wife Kathleen of Waltham, MA John Irving of Woodland Hills, California, and his brother Kenneth Irving of Kwajalein, Marshall Islands Donald Irving and his wife Pam of Corinna, Maine and one Granddaughter Gail White and her husband Galen of Pasadumkeag, Maine
Also survived by fourteen Great Grand Children, Christopher Irving and his wife Colleen of Woburn, Karen Irving of Atkinson, NH, Gregory Irving of Wilmington, Kyle and Keegan Irving of Cordova, AK, Kayla and Thomas Irving of Deering, NH, Erin, Meghan and Lauren Irving of Waltham, MA., Stacy White of Pasadumkeag, Maine, Jennifer White of Gurnee, IL, Mark White and his wife Tina of Waynesville, Missouri, Jamie Irving of Corinna, Maine.
Also survived by four great, great grandchildren, Brandon and Britney White of Waynesville, Missouri, Cameron and Colby Irving of Woburn, MA, and many nieces and nephews in Canada.
Predeceased by her daughter Phyllis Young, and her sons Kenneth, Donald, and Gerald Irving, her sisters Laura Bunnell, Caroline Ruston and Edna Ward and her brothers: Crawford Lynds, David Lynds, Arnold Lynds and Harry Lynds.
She is also predeceased by her grandson Donald Irving and great granddaughter Kara Lynn Irving.
Sarah was a resident of Malden for many years. She and her family were members of St. Paul’s church in that city. Sarah worked at a local seat cover company for many years, while raising her family. After moving back to Emerson, NB, Canada, to care for her aging parents, she became an active member of the Beersville Presbyterian Church in Beersville NB, and the Harcourt Senior Citizens Association. Sarah was a resident of 21 Crystal
Drive in Riverview for 19 years where she attended the Bethel Church. She loved to quilt and enjoyed making many projects for her children and grandchildren. Knitting was a pastime she also enjoyed. Sarah knitted socks and mittens for her family, sending them with Christmas gifts every year. Golfing with the other residents and attending many of the events offered at Crystal Drive became pleasant memories for Sarah after she moved to US to live with her son Gerald and his family in 1998. She was been a resident at Woodbriar of Wilmington a Nursing and Rehabilitation facility for the past five years. Sarah celebrated her 102nd birthday there on December 16th 2006.
A memorial service will be held at the Community Baptist Church, 470 Fulton Street, Medford, MA on Wednesday, April 4th, 2007 at 1:00 PM. Internment will be in Beersville Presbyterian Cemetery, Beersville, NB, Canada. Local arrangements entrusted to Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Rd. Riverview (506)857-9544
