Obituary of Raymond L. Steeves

Raymond L. Steeves 1922 - 2010, age 87, of Moncton, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Friday, April 16, 2010. Born in Salem, NB; he was the son of the late Levi and Belle (Ramsey) Steeves. Raymond was retired from the CNR Hump Yard. He attended the Salem Baptist Church. A veteran of WWII, he served with the North Shore Regiment and the Cape Breton Highlanders in France, Belgium, Germany and Holland. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 6 in Moncton and was a member of the CN Pensioners Association. He is survived by his wife of 38 years Gail Steeves, five sons Danny Steeves of Toronto, Randy Steeves of Oshawa, ON; Rodney (Sharon) Steeves, Ricky Steeves and Grant Steeves all of Moncton; three daughters Carolyn (John Lutes) of Turtle Creek, Shonda of Moncton and Kim Robichaud (Pat) of Moncton; as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren; Raymond is the last surviving member of his immediate family. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife Delores Woodworth, as well as a brother Perley and sisters Muriel and Annie. Resting at Riverview Funeral Home 214 Pine Glen Rd. Riverview with visitation on Sunday, April 18, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. The funeral service will be held at Riverview Funeral Home Memorial Chapel on Monday, April 19, 2010 at 3:30 pm with Pastor Danny Steeves officiating. The Moncton Legion Branch # 6 are conducting a veterans service at the funeral home Sunday, April 18, 2010 at 6:45pm. Interment will be in Grey's Island Cemetery Donations in Raymond's memory made to NB Lung Association would be appreciated by his family.
