Obituary of Phyllis Miriam MacDonald

Phyllis Miriam MacDonald, of McNair Manor in Moncton, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 20, 2009 at the age of 95 years. Born in Sunny Brae on November 23rd, 1913, Phyllis was the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret (Brown) MacDonald. Phyllis was a school teacher in the Moncton area for 46 years, with over 40 of those years spent at Edith Cavell School where she taught Grade One to many of Moncton's citizens. She attended Sunny Brae Baptist Church, and was involved with the NB Teachers Association and the Braesiders. Phyllis was very artistic and had a great love for knitting, calligraphy and colour tinting of black and white photographs. She is survived by her nephew Christopher MacDonald of Moncton; nieces Deborah Ireland (Greg) of Bathurst, Janet LeBlanc (Donald) of Cape Brule, Joan Keevil (Norman) of Vancouver, Patti Crosby (Larry) of Lake Country, B.C. ; grand nieces Brooke Ireland (fiancé Paul) and Hayley Ireland (fiancé Reg); grand nephews Alexander and Zachary LeBlanc, and Devin Crosby. She was predeceased by her sisters Pauline MacDonald and Vesta Miller; brother Alton MacDonald; and nephew John MacDonald. By personal request there will be no visitation or funeral service at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will take place in Elmwood Cemetery.
