Obituary of Walter "Wally" Laity

Walter Laity, 89, of Riverview, and formerly of Upper Coverdale, NB; passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, September 23, 2013. Born in Cornwall, England, he was the son of Walter and Inez (Yates) Laity, emigrated to New Brunswick in the 1920's. He was an adherent of Coverdale United Church and was a retired farmer and he also retired from Asbestonos as a shipping clerk. Wally was a life member of the Air Force Vets Club, an avid dart player, he was a member of the Legion Br. # 6 Dart Team and he also played at the Moncton Dart Club and had the opportunity of traveling to various parts of Canada playing different venues. He enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Fairlanes Seniors Bowling League. He will be missed by his wife of 58 years, Helen Laity, three daughters Debbie Mullin (Michael), Pattie Abrams (Scott), and Cathy Demmings (George) of Upper Coverdale, two sons Tim Laity (Sheila) of Yellowknife and Allan Laity (Roberta) of Riverview; NB, twelve grandchildren Shannon Trevors (Toby), Mandi Mullin, Molly Laity, Stephanie Babic (Antonio), Daniel Laity, Sarah Rickard (Brandon), Morgan Abrams, Jennifer Laity, Melanie Laity, Amy Laity, Megan Demmings and Kelsey Demmings, three great-grandchildren and by several nieces and nephews. Wally was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sisters Beryl Wheelhouse, Pauline Smith and Dorothy Schofield; brother Donald Laity. Resting at the Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Rd. Riverview, with visitation on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 7:00 to 9:00pm. The funeral service will be held at Riverview Funeral Home Memorial on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at 2:00pm conducted by Rev. Carol Smith and Rev. Danny Compton. Interment will be in Wesleyan Union Cemetery, Upper Coverdale, NB. Donations in Walter's memory made to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital, the Coverdale United Church or to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by his family.
