Obituary of Marion R. Fownes

Marion R. Fownes, of The Drew Nursing Home, Sackville and formerly of Royal Court, and Dixon Blvd, Moncton passed away at The Sackville Memorial Hospital on Tuesday October 10, 2006 at the age of 91 years. Born in Chatham, NB on March 7, 1915 she was the daughter of the late Roy W. and Helen Flossie (Hicks) Stephens. She was a member of The Central United Church, a member of The UCW, and past committee chairman on the official board within the church. She was a graduate of Mount Allison University. She was a member of the University Women; The Engineers Wives; The Moncton Lawn Bowling Club; and The Moncton Beaver Curling Club. Left with fond memories are her daughter Donna Lee Fownes-Quinton and her husband Donald of Pt. Claire, PQ; sons Dr. Douglas R. Fownes and his wife Diane of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, USA, and Dr. David E. Fownes and his wife Catherine of Pt. Claire, PQ; grandchildren Lauren and Emily, Ian, Graham and Jennifer Fownes, Adam, Jennifer and Samantha Winkler; great grandchildren Megan Elizabeth Fownes, Allison Fownes, and Hayden Robert Fownes-Winig; brother Harley Stephens and his wife Irene of Sackville, NB; also by several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband G. Robert C. Fownes in 2002; brother Hugh Stephens; and sister Gladys Crossman. Resting at Tuttle Brothers Funeral Home, 171 Lutz St, on Wednesday October 11, 2006 from 7:00pm - 9:00pm. The funeral service will be held at Central United Church, 150 Queen St. on Thursday October 12, 2006 at 10:00am with Rev. James MacDonald officiating. Interment will be in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations made to The Sackville Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Unit would be appreciated.
