Obituary of Mary Ramona Lockwood
LOCKWOOD, MARY RAMONA - 78, passed away at home Monday July 9th after a courageous battle with cancer. Ramona was born in Winnipeg the daughter of the late Janet (Jessie) Craik and Elgin Porter.
Survived by her loving husband of 57 years, William "Bill" R. Lockwood, their two daughters Janet (Wayne) Steeves, Valerie (Ron) Crawford, two grandchildren Melanie (Chris) Shaw, Mitchell Steeves and their precious great-grandson Hunter Shaw, brother-in-law Carey (Helen) Lockwood, special cousins, nieces and nephews.
Over the years Ramona was involved in various church groups, played bridge as well as in the latter years enjoyed playing golf. She and Bill loved to take car trips to the States and all across Canada.
Ramona was a member of the United Church and she had a beautiful soprano voice. For years she sang for weddings/funerals and special functions. Ramona also played the piano and organ and eventually became the organist for St. Paul’s United Church in Riverview, Mountain View United in Moncton, and lastly for Trinity United Church in Shediac. Music has been fundamental throughout Ramona’s life especially sacred music.
First and foremost Ramona was a wife, mother and grandmother. She faced her death as she faced her life with dignity and selflessness. She loved nothing better than to be surrounded by family at birthdays, or special events. Her pride and joy was her great-grandson Hunter who always gave her a smile.
Ramona will always be missed by her family and all her friends. You have always been a wife and mother to be proud of.
