Obituary of Mary MacKay
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing our our cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Mary Adelaide MacKay on Monday, April 3, 2017. She was born in Bras d’Or on December 30, 1930.
Mary is survived by her daughters Natalie (Larry), Nadine (Sam), Annette (Paul), her brother Joe Greene, her grandchildren Mitchell, Rebecca, Amanda, Ashley, Megan, Delana and Kyle and her great-grandchildren, all of whom she treasured dearly.
She was predeceased by her husband, Louis; a son in infancy; her son Dwayne; sister, Natalie; parents Petronele and Joseph Greene (Grinevicius) and sister-in-law, Helen Greene.
Mom devoted her life to family. She loved family gatherings and her greatest joy was feeding us all meals, snacks and bed lunch. She enjoyed bowling every Monday where she made many long lasting friendships. Mom lived in a wonderful neighborhood on Barrington Street and thought of them all as her extended family.
Our family would like to express sincere gratitude to Dr. Jody Enright and the nurses, especially Joanne Boucher, of Extra-Mural in Dieppe for their excellent care and compassion.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place at Tuttle Brothers & Riverview Funeral Home & Crematorium, 214 Pine Glen Road, Riverview, NB and a graveside service will be held at a later date under the direction of J.M. Jobes Funeral Home in Sydney Mines.
Donations in Mary’s memory can be made to Extra-Mural Program, Dieppe, NB or a charitable organization of one’s choosing.
