Obituary of Leopold "Paul" D'Amours
Paul D'Amours, 79, of Moncton, passed away following a brief illness at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, October 2, 2006. Born March 14, 1927 in Edmunston, NB, he was the son of the late Ernest and Philomine (Dube) D'Amours. He was an Employee Relations Officer with CN Rail, retiring in 1986 with 39 years service. In 1975 Paul served a year in Bamako, Mali, on loan to Canac Consultants to assist in the establishment of the personnel office for their railway system.
He attended Notre Dame de la Paix and Holy Family Parishes. Paul was a member of the CN Pensioners Association, the CN Supervisors and was a former member of Lakeside Golf Club.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Greta (McCloskey) D'Amours; one daughter Janine D'Amours (Arthur Wood) of Rothesay; three sons Kevin D'Amours (Karen) of Aberdeen, Scotland, David D'Amours (Sandra) of Riverview and Andre D'Amours (Valerie) of Miramichi; five grandchildren Andrea Simmons (Avi Spector), Rachel, Tracy, Christopher and Jacqueline; two sisters Fernande MacLean of Edmunston and Hughuette Sauvageau of Quebec City, one brother Guy D'Amours of Sorel, PQ; also by several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by two sisters and four brothers.
Resting at Riverview Funeral Home Pine Glen Rd. Riverview with visitation Thursday, October 5, 2006 from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 7:00 to 9:00pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 52 Falkland St. Moncton, on Friday, October 6, 2006 at 10:00 am with Fr. Daniel Deveau officiating.
Parish prayers will be held at the funeral home Thursday evening at 8:30pm.
Interment will be in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens Donations in Paul's memory, made to Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation or to the memorial of the donor's choice would be appreciated by his family.
