Obituary of Levilla Maude Fawcett-Colpitts
Levilla Maude (Bannister) Fawcett-Colpitts - The death of L. Maude Fawcett-Colpitts of Second North River, NB, formerly of River Glade, NB passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at her residence in her 104th Year. Born at River Glade on September 1, 1919 a daughter of the late Elvin and Neta(Smith) Bannister.
Survived by her three sons: Bartlett (Joy) Fawcett of Second North River, NB, David Fawcett of The Glades, NB and Rev. Melvin Fawcett of Second North River, NB; six grandchildren: Dana (Cyndi), Kellie (Gary), Kenneth, Gregory (Patty), Grant (Elizabeth) and Gayle (Kevin) Doucet; fifteen great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Elsie Bannister; many nephews, nieces and great-nephews and great-nieces; two stepchildren, Esther Colpitts of Shawville, QC and Roger Colpitts of Winnipeg, MN and their families; a friend, Sharon Beers ; and special thanks to dear friends who helped to care for her personal needs: Anne Hobbs, Carole Shaddick, Lori MacLeod, Mike Byers, grandson, Kenny, Extra Mural R.N. Holly and home care worker, Missy Surrett.
Predeceased by her parents; her first husband, Walter Eugene Fawcett; her second husband, Louis Walton Colpitts; a sister, W. Myrtle Lounsbury; a brother, J. Claude Bannister; and a grandson, Donald K. Fawcett. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Maude fondly remembered her years in food preparation as cook, diet kitchen work, cafeteria manageress and waitress, having worked at The Burlington Hotel, Petitcodiac, NB, The Jordan Memorial Sanitorium, River Glade, NB, Gordon Graydon High School, Lakeview, ON, and many other establishments. Following a ten year sojourn in Ontario during which time she took private art lessons (oil painting) upon returning to New Brunswick she taught this skill to others and was involved in a Clown Troupe in the Moncton Area. Her dedication to the former River Glade United Baptist Church and her love for the Lord was evidenced in service as Sunday School teacher, Mission Band leader, Deacon and other positions in the church and community including UBWMU and WI; camping saw her involved at Camp Wildwood and keenly interested in Arrowhead Native Bible Center. A ten year sojourn to Saint John,NB meant sharing accomodation with Mel and continuing to paint, worship and cook.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of Tuttle Brothers Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Rd., Riverview, NB (506) 857-9544 with visitation at Second North River United Baptist Church, 3327 Route 112, Second North River, NB on Monday, February 6, 2023 from 12:00 noon until the time of the service at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow the service in River Glade Community Cemetery. Remembrances made to the River Glade Community Cemetery, 4 Woodland Ave, Petitcodiac, NB, E4Z 4X5 or any Christian camping program or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
