Obituary of Lennetta "Lennie" Harris

Lennie Harris, formerly of Cedar Street in Parkton, passed away at the Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home, on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at the age of 93 years. Born in Hopewell Cape, NB on November 27, 1919 she was the daughter of the late William and Hester (Crossman) Alcox. Lennie joined the Ladies Auxillary Branch #6 Royal Canadian Legion in 1973. She received a Certificate of Merit in 1984. She held the office of President in 1986, and received a life membership in 1993. She was very proud to receive her 35 year pin in 2007. Lennie was Sports Chairperson for a number of years for the Auxillary, and Captain of the Dart Team in the City Dart League. She was the Captain of the Poppy Committees for the Auxillary at Highfield Square for over 30 years. She also enjoyed bowling, crafts of many sorts, reading books, crosswords and above all she loved the time spent with family. Survived by her daughters Thelma (Larry) Walker of Moncton and Carolyn (James) Hannon of Amherst; sons Willard (Doris) Esty of Boundry Creek and Gerald (Connie) Esty of Moncton; brother James (Donna) Alcox of Moncton; grandchildren Sharon Geldart, Kathy Dunn, Tim Esty, Phyllis Searle, Tanya Duff, Dale Esty, Paul Esty, Julie Colpitts, Michael Esty, Debbie Douthwright, Gary Bovard, Larry Bovard, Brenda Martin, Karen Biddle, James Hannon and Michael Hannon; several great grandchildren and several step grandchildren and great step grandchildren. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her first husband Cecil W. Esty in 1968; second husband James E. Harris in 1983; brothers James Constable and George Constable; sister Amy Blakney; sons Kenneth P. Esty in 1997, and infant child George in 1946. Visitation will be held at Tuttle Brothers Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 from 2:00pm -4:00pm & 7:00 - 9:00pm. The funeral service will be held at Tuttle Brothers Memorial Chapel, 171 Lutz Street on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Chris VanBuskirk officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Donations in Lennie's memory made to the Royal Canadian Legion Br#6 Poppy Campaign would be appreciated by the family.
