Obituary of Jean Holsen
Jean Elizabeth Holsen (nee Lutz) of Moncton passed away on March 13, 2014 at the age of 82.
Born in Moncton on August 20, 1931, she was the daughter of John Bliss Lutz and Alma Irene Lutz (Plummer). Jean was a retired employee of the Federal Government (Department of Employment and Immigration). Her previous employment included work as a typist, stenographer, secretary, and payroll manager. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and reading. She was a member of the Greater Moncton Quilt Guild and made many beautiful quilts over the years. These quilts will be treasured by friends and family. Jean was a lifelong member of St. Georges Anglican Church and a lifetime supporter of the Moncton SPCA.
Jean is survived by her daughter Karen Quinn (Dave) of Guelph, ON; her grandchildren Shannon (Lance Cavener) and Ryan; one brother Gordon Lutz; and several nieces and nephews. Her husband, Doug, passed away 8 months ago. In addition to her husband and parents, she had one brother Jack Lutz who predeceased her.
At her request, there is no visitation prior to the funeral. The funeral service will be held on Sunday March 16 at 2:00 pm from Tuttle Brothers Funeral Home (171 Lutz Street, Moncton) with Reverend Chris VanBuskirk officiating. The family will receive visitors in the family room after the service for those who wish to meet with the family.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Alzheimer’s Society, the Moncton SPCA or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
