Obituary of James R. Smith

James R. Smith, 94, of Lower Coverdale, NB; passed away at his residence with his family at his side, on Wednesday, December 30, 2015. Born in Lower Coverdale, NB, he was the son of the late Henry and Bertha (Tessier) Smith. James was a retired farmer and an outdoors man, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending endless time in his large vegetable garden. He is survived by his wife of 72 years Kathleen E. (Steeves) Smith; two daughters Linda Stannard (the late James) of Hillsborough and Tanya Steeves (Wayne) of Lower Coverdale; four sons David (Janie) of Stoney Creek, Paul of Lower Coverdale, Michael James (Linda) and Lloyd (Clara) all of Niagara Rd.; thirteen grandchildren Travis (Nancy), Trevor (Lori), Karla, Chris, Clayton (Lori), Clinton (Erin), Krista (Brian), Melissa (Sam), Adam (Jamie), Aaron (Kendra), Lloyd Allan, Jeremy (Lisa) and Melanie (Shawn); seventeen great-grandchildren; two sisters Blaikie Rowsell of Oshawa and Peggy Appleby of Riverview; one brother George Smith (Barbara) of Lower Coverdale; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers Douglas and Charles Visitation will be held at Tuttle Brothers and Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Rd. Riverview, NB on Friday, January 1st, 2016 from 6:00pm-9:00pm. The Funeral service will be held at Tuttle Brothers & Riverview Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 2:00pm with pastor Richard Steeves officiating. Interment will be in Wilmot Memorial Cemetery, Lower Coverdale in the spring. Donations in James's memory made to the Lower Coverdale Baptist Church Road to River Fund, or to the charity of donor's choice would be appreciated by his family.
