Obituary of Irene Burke

Irene Burke, 81, 960 St. George Blvd and formerly of Walsh St. Moncton, passed away suddenly at her residence on Tuesday, January 17, 2006. Born in Riviere Du Loup, PQ on October 10, 1924 she was the daughter of the late Aime and Helen (Nolan) Lavoie. She was a member of St. Augustines Roman Catholic Church, the CWL and the St. Augustine's Seniors. Irene was active in many organizations including Moncton Liberal Association, Moncton Lawn Bowling Association, the Engineers Wives and the People Park Tower Seniors. She is survived by two daughters Elizabeth (Stewart) Mahoney of Stellerton, NS, and Katherine Burke (Paul) of Ottawa, ON; one son Maxim Burke of Charlottetown, PEI; two grandchildren David and Caroline Mahoney and by one sister Alma Stewart of Moncton. She was predeceased by her husband Maxim J. Burke Sr. in 1986. At Irene's request there is no viewing at the Funeral Home. The Mass will be held at St. Augustines Roman Catholic Church on Friday, January 20, 2006 at 3:00 PM with Father Allison Carroll officiating. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery in the spring.
